IRS to Hold Special Open House Saturday, Sept. 25 for Veterans and Persons with Disabilities

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service will host a special nationwide open house on Saturday, Sept. 25 to help taxpayers –– especially veterans and people with disabilities –– solve tax problems and respond to IRS notices.

One hundred offices, at least one in every state, will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time. IRS staff will be available on site or by telephone to help taxpayers work through issues and leave with solutions.

In many locations, the IRS will partner with organizations that serve veterans and the disabled to offer additional help and information to people in these communities. Partner organizations include the National Disability Institute (NDI), Vets First, Department of Veterans Affairs, National Council on Independent Living and the American Legion.

Taxpayers have tremendous success solving their tax issues at our open houses,” IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman said. “I want to encourage veterans and people with disabilities to come in on Sept. 25. Just like we reached out earlier this year to small businesses and victims of the Gulf Oil Spill, we want to help other taxpayers put their toughest problems behind them.”

IRS locations will be equipped to handle issues involving notices and payments, return preparation, audits and a variety of other issues. At a previous IRS open house on June 5, over 6,700 taxpayers sought and received assistance and 96 percent had their issues resolved the same day.

At the Sept. 25 open house, anyone who has a tax question or has received a notice can speak with an IRS employee to get an answer to their question or a clear explanation of what is necessary to satisfy the request. A taxpayer who cannot pay a balance due can find out whether an installment agreement is appropriate and, if so, fill out the paperwork then and there. Assistance with offers-in-compromise — an agreement between a taxpayer and the IRS that settles the taxpayer’s debt for less than the full amount owed — will also be available. Likewise, a taxpayer struggling to complete a certain IRS form or schedule can work directly with IRS staff to get the job done.

Taxpayers requiring special services, such as interpretation for the deaf or hard of hearing, should check local listings and call the local IRS Office/Taxpayer Assistance Center ahead of time to schedule an appointment.

The open house on Sept. 25 is the third of three events scheduled after this year’s tax season. Plans are underway for similar events next year. Details will be available at a later date.

I will keep my readers informed when the next update hits.

Irritating Phrases, 6 best job sites by fortune mag, and a lifting tip.

Irritating phrases in email and real life

I’ve decided to take a break from business writing to give us all a few tips. As you can see, I took a snippet from Reader’s Digest September 2010 issue just to point out the Irritating Phrases to avoid. Mostly, because I have seen all of these THIS YEAR! I guess I was right to roll my eyes silently and smile…

Also, support the digest and pick this issue up at news racks everywhere. It really does have the funniest articles this time!

A new website caught my attention which I would like for all my readers to drop by and take a look for themselves. I spoke with Mark Baird and asked about getting a sub-domain started here in Western Washington. I would like to hear comment whether anyone thinks our local veterans and service men from Mcchord, Fort Lewis, Whidbey Island, Bangor, and Bremerton would benefit.

If so, are there generous souls out there who would like to pitch in on the start-up costs on such a venture? Are there local supporters who have been waiting for the right opportunity to really help our vets out? You can help by pledging donations to the “Western Washington Sub-domain” fund and by posting ads on the national sub-domain for help around your house or community.

Please review www.hirepatriots.com and let me know what you think about Mark Baird and the Hire Patriots crew!

I looked over my stock portfolio this morning and see the following:

WIN: Winstream
YHOO: Yahoo

Since Apple just soared over 260 the other day, it sold along with another tech stock I was carrying. Anyone have ideas for growing this list or share your own diversification expertise?

Your host as seen on Biznik.com

Today, I started by logging into Howard’s Sensible Selling teleconference at 0915. He is the most generous, knowledgeable professional on Biznik.com and sales in general. He is a master at helping all of us direct traffic to our websites. Today’s meeting was no different and still had many subjects that were new.

For one thing, he actually slide showed his own google analytics just to show us all, the value of this online benefit. His subject of the day was about making biznik work for you. Simply be professional and encourage community posters online. I would say to also lead with your article or articles and perhaps carry it over to the community pages. Sounds like a lot of work and I am guilty of being behind on my own endeavors in this direction. Time will tell, I’ll likely catch up soon!

Nice thought and always a wonder to hear from you Howard, thank you once again for your wisdom!

Welcome to the CEO’s blog page for Dollar Keeper Accounting Corporation.

The company is in its fledgling first fiscal year, having begun on July 1, 2009. We entered into a complimentary relationship with Tax Man To You, LLC and engaged several referrals to that entity. Though, I see this as only one success, it has become a large part of the team’s endeavors.

Our successes are few and can be considered value-added. For one thing, meeting fellow professionals in complimenting fields has led to fresh additions to our service lines. TMTY allows the company to solidly offer income tax filing services including E-file, quarterly tax planning, and personal budgeting assistance. Other affiliations allow the company to recommend top insurance agents, community bankers, excellent computer and web-design contractors, promotional marketing resellers, office space negotiators, life coach practitioners, professional clinical nutritionists, chiropractors, massage therapist, printer, realtor, mortgage broker, title company, and just about any other professional we can possibly need.

My eventual goal is to grow the company into a respected bookkeeping firm with several certified and apprentice bookkeepers. The offerings will always center around good overall full-charge bookkeeping. Some of our specialized offerings began with payroll and will include additional specialized services as needed. I’ve still not fleshed out the best path to this eventuality, though I have remained vigilant, flexible, and pathways to growth. Already, TMTY and DKAC have collaborated on reviewing several online solutions from which, we will be referring our customers on an as-needed basis. Of course, these are subject to change when or if customer service ever appears to repeatedly fail to deliver as promised.

I am awful long winded with this first post as there is so much to offer and so little space and time to really set forth what we can do for your business. The bottom line is that a bookkeeping company just does books. The Dollar Keeper pools resources from all over to back-fill your entire office support. So, go ahead and concentrate on sales, production and delivery. We can handle your invoicing, direct mail marketing, payroll and all your bill paying. If we aren’t offering it, maybe we should. Drop me a line!
